Dock Canopies, Sunshades, and Cantilevered Canopies in Cartersville, GA
Lakepoint Building 100 & 300
Project Overview
LakePoint Building 100 & 300 is a two-building industrial development totaling 551,005 square feet, strategically located less than one mile from I-75 and 25 miles from I-285. The project required the design, fabrication, and installation of multiple exterior architectural elements, including dock canopies, custom aluminum sunshades, and cantilevered aluminum canopy systems at the primary entrances.
Despite the scale of the project, PCG completed installation in just 1.5 weeks per building, maintaining schedule integrity while delivering precision-engineered results.
Location: Cartersville, GA

Fabrication Strategy
To streamline installation and eliminate potential schedule delays, PCG implemented a proactive prefabrication strategy. All sunshade and canopy sections were fabricated in advance, with the exception of terminal end units that required precise field measurements following structural placement.
This hybrid approach provided two key advantages:
- Accelerated installation timelines
- Precision-fit final integration
By combining shop-controlled fabrication with strategic field customization, PCG ensured both efficiency and architectural accuracy.
Equipment Access Constraints
The installation process required careful equipment planning and site coordination:
- Boom lifts and variable-reach forklifts (lulls) were utilized to safely position sunshades and cantilevered canopies.
- Scissor lifts were deployed for efficient dock canopy installation across the truck courts.
All systems were installed safely, smoothly, and on schedule — with zero disruption to adjacent construction activities.
Custom Fabrication Capabilities Highlighted
A defining feature of this project was the seamless integration between two distinct architectural systems:
- Open-framed aluminum sunshades spanning the storefront glazing
- Solid-framed aluminum canopies positioned over primary entryways
PCG engineered a continuous transition between these contrasting elements, preserving architectural intent while ensuring structural integrity and visual consistency. The result is a cohesive façade treatment that enhances both functionality and curb appeal.
Outcome
The completed systems provide:
- Durable, weather-protective dock coverage
- Architectural shading that improves energy performance
- A visually striking entry sequence that elevates the building façade
LakePoint Building 100 & 300 now stands as a strong example of PCG’s ability to execute large-scale industrial projects with speed, precision, and custom fabrication expertise.
