Core Value: People Matter
One of our core values is “We support, respect, and invest in our team like family.” PCG’s safety program is one way we live out this core value. It has evolved from compliance and training into a proactive, employee-centered culture focused on preventing injuries.
Over the years, we have worked hard to build a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility. From the fabrication shop to the jobsite, our team members are trained to recognize hazards, understand the work they are performing, and take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those around them.
Our partnership with Safety Consultants USA(opens in new tab) helps us continually train, retrain, evaluate, and improve our safety practices. We don't view safety as a box to check. We view it as an ongoing commitment to our people.
Safety by the Numbers
Our Experience Modification Rate: 0.68
One construction industry measure of our commitment to workplace safety is our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.68. This has dropped from 0.81 just three years ago.
An EMR below 1.0 is an important indicator of a company’s workers’ compensation loss experience compared with its industry peers. For PCG, our 0.68 EMR reflects our continued investment in training, prevention, employee preparedness, and proactive safety management.
But the number is only part of the story.
Our real measure of success is sending every employee home safely at the end of every workday.
Building a Culture of Prevention
A strong safety culture doesn't begin when an incident occurs. It begins long before the work starts.
That's why PCG has continued to expand our safety program beyond traditional training and compliance. We look for ways to identify risks, prepare employees for the physical demands of their work, and reduce the potential for injuries before they happen.
Our approach includes:
- Comprehensive employee safety training
- Monthly safety meetings
- Regular fabrication facility safety audits
- Random jobsite safety audits
- Ergonomic and physical-capability assessments
- Daily Stretch & Flex activities
- Specialty equipment training
- First Aid and CPR training
- Fall protection training
- Ongoing safety education and retraining
- Drug and alcohol prevention programs
Ergonomic "Fit to Work" Program
In early 2026, PCG took another significant step toward preventing workplace injuries by launching a new Ergonomic "Fit to Work" Program.
Working with a specialized company, we began by identifying the primary job categories and tasks our employees perform in both the fabrication shop and the field.
From there, we developed physical and ergonomic assessments to determine whether employees could safely meet the essential physical requirements of those tasks.
We then put the program into action.
Every employee went through the assessment process to help ensure they were physically prepared to safely perform the work required for their position.
This proactive approach gives PCG a better understanding of the physical demands associated with our work while helping employees and leadership identify potential concerns before they become injuries.
For us, being "fit to work" isn't about asking employees to simply work harder.
It's about making sure our people are prepared to perform their work safely.
A special thank you to Deborah Lechner, PT, MS, founder of ErgoScience(opens in new tab), and her team of experts for helping us implement this program.
Stretch & Flex Program
In addition to our Fit to Work initiative, PCG introduced a company-wide Stretch & Flex Program in 2026.
Each morning before work begins, our entire team gathers for approximately 10 minutes of stretching and warm-up exercises.
Employees take turns leading the group through about 10 stretching exercises designed to get the body moving and ready for the day's work.
It's a simple routine, but it reinforces an important message:
Safety starts before the work starts.
Regular stretching and warm-up activities can provide important benefits, including:
- Increased flexibility and blood flow
- Reduced pain and discomfort
- Increased energy levels
- Reduced risk of workplace injuries
- Less time away from work
At PCG, our goal is always for our employees to go home safely to their families each and every night. Adding Stretch & Flex is another positive step in our commitment to creating a safer, healthier workplace.
A special thank you to Callie Manly and Safety Consultants USA(opens in new tab) for helping us implement this program and for serving as an ongoing safety partner to PCG.
Training That Prepares Our People
Training is a fundamental part of our safety culture.
PCG employees receive training appropriate to their work, and we continually reinforce it through ongoing safety meetings, audits, and field observations.
Safety Training Highlights
All employees are trained in:
- OSHA 10
- First Aid / CPR
- Fall Protection
- Boom Lift operation
- Scissor Lift operation
- Forklift operation
- Specialty tools and equipment required for their work
In addition:
- All foremen and leadmen are trained as scaffold-competent persons.
- Employees receive training on the specialty tools required to complete their work safely.
- Safety training is continually reinforced through meetings, audits, and jobsite observations.
Training isn't simply about earning a certification.
It's about giving our people the knowledge and confidence to recognize hazards and make safe decisions every day.
Safety in the Shop and on the Jobsite
PCG's safety program extends from our 117,000-square-foot architectural metal fabrication facility to every jobsite our crews work on.
In partnership with Safety Consultants USA, we conduct monthly safety audits of our fabrication facility and random jobsite audits.
These evaluations help us identify potential hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and continually improve our processes.
Our goal is not simply to react when something goes wrong.
Our goal is to identify opportunities to make the work safer before something goes wrong.
Safety Is a Team Effort
A successful safety culture requires everyone to participate.
We encourage employees to take ownership of safety, speak up about potential hazards, and look out for their coworkers.
We also recognize that safety extends beyond physical hazards.
PCG participates in the "Drugs Don't Work" program through the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce, which includes a drug and alcohol prevention program, mandatory drug testing for new employees, random testing of current employees, and monthly safety meetings addressing drug and alcohol abuse.
Because being ready to work safely means being physically and mentally prepared to do the job.
Safety Is Part of the PCG Difference
At Pierre Construction Group, we don't pursue quality at the expense of safety.
Safety is part of quality.
Our clients trust us to deliver architectural metal projects safely, professionally, and reliably. That starts with taking care of the people who fabricate and install those projects.
From daily Stretch & Flex exercises to ergonomic Fit to Work assessments, from OSHA training to jobsite audits, we continually look for ways to improve.
Because our definition of a successful project isn't simply completing it on time and on budget.
A successful project is one where our people do quality work, our clients get the results they expect, and everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.
Our Commitment to Safety
Every Employee. Every Jobsite. Every Day.
We will continue to invest in training, prevention, technology, partnerships, and programs that make PCG a safer place to work.
Because at the end of every workday, there's something more important than the project waiting at home:
Our people. Their families. And making sure everyone gets home safely.
