Main Entrance Canopies in Atlanta 30309
Rambler
Project Overview
In the heart of Midtown Atlanta, the Rambler building is a 19-story student housing apartment building near the campus of Georgia Tech. Specifically located at the corner of Peachtree St. and 4th street, it sits on a prime location for Atlanta landmarks such as the Fox Theater, Piedmont Park and The High Museum. PCG worked with longtime partner JE Dunn Construction, to design and engineer the 2 main entrance canopies on the Peachtree Street elevation of the project.

Project Challenges & Solutions
Challenge: Canopies went through a complete re-design process mid project.
Challenge: Down rods for main entrance canopy had to be precisely measured and installed ahead of time to allow the metal panel ceiling to be installed prior to the canopy installation.
Challenge: Canopy frames were pre-welded and were delivered to site as full units to meet engineering requirements. Being an urban site with limited laydown required extra coordination with JE Dunn’s field team and an immediate installation.
Challenge:
Installation of our canopies occurred on top of completed amenity areas. PCG used extra care to protect finishes below while maintaining a quality installation.
Installation Process
- Field measurements for both canopy frames and down rods
- Installation of down rods ahead of metal panel ceiling
- Installation of canopy outrigger supports
- Delivery and installation of 1-piece canopy frames
- Fabrication and installation of ACM fascia
- Installation of mesh infill panel system
