Fabrication Strategy
The first big challenge on the project was a custom color ACM panel. Working with one of our ACM partners, Alucobond, we fast-tracked the approval process and had the custom color silver ACM material on hand well in advance of field measurements for the building.
Building Access and timing were also crucial to this project’s success. With on-time deliveries to hoist the perforated/corrugated screen panels to the 2 different roof levels and coordinated scheduling to use boom lifts for the upper level installs of the Longboard wall panels, PCG was in constant communication with the B&G onsite team to make things happen. Timing of installation of our finished products at the main entrances allowed us to finish our scopes on schedule, but not too early where the products would potentially be damaged. We also coordinate our interior Longboard soffit install around the electrical and plumbing scopes to ensure soffit depths match the needs of those trades.
Another opportunity for us to showcase our custom fabrication capacities came with the Longboard ‘Link N Lock’ baffle system we installed at the 3 entrance canopies. To match the custom angles the design required, PCG custom fabricated, painted, and installed over 200 individual brackets to the steel supports on the underside of the canopies. These brackets included angled down rods and plates to attach the Link n Lock panels and create the unique staggered aesthetic.
