Ponce City Market Parcel B
Project Overview
The Ponce City Market Parcel B project is the latest in the redevelopment of the original Atlanta property. The new 4-story office tower provides more than 115,000 SF of office and retail space and features numerous exterior architectural metal finishes. The new hotel, located on the North Avenue side of the property, includes a 20-story tower. Wedged tightly between Ponce de Leon Avenue and North Avenue just east of Midtown Atlanta, this project provided numerous challenges for PCG. The in-town location meant on-time deliveries and no lay-down space for the site. Additionally, several locations required swing stages to access the outside of the building, necessitating greater coordination between the trades. The project also underwent several large design changes, which forced the team to react and pivot quickly to maintain the tight schedule. Material lead times were also a challenge, with 4 different custom-color ACMs, custom-color louvered screens, and zinc panels, all with lead times of 12+ weeks.

Was there anything special about this job that highlights PCG’s custom fabrication capabilities?
For the custom vertical decorative sunshades found on level 2 of the north, east, and west elevations of the office tower, the attachment blades needed to be installed prior to the ACM panels to allow for proper attachment. This installation required precision layout from our crews to center the brackets correctly without impeding the installation of the custom color Gold ACM fins.
After the brackets were installation (and field measurements taken), the PCG field teams installed the ACM while the shop fabricated the sunshades. After fabrication and receiving the Kynar finish, the sunshades were carefully installed not to damage the finished products behind and beside them.
Were there any special requests with this project for which PCG was uniquely capable of delivering?
PCGs ability to handle multiple scopes effectively was on full display during this project. The amount of coordination required on the exterior of the building was intense and being able to work thru the details effectively and understanding how each of the panel systems interact with each other was incredibly important to a successful result.
